10 STEPS TO CREATING A BLOG THAT INCREASES YOUR PERSONAL BRAND CREDIBILITY http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2017/10/10-steps-to-creating-a-blog-that-increases-your-personal-brand-credibility

10 STEPS TO CREATING A BLOG THAT INCREASES YOUR PERSONAL BRAND CREDIBILITY

Blogging is your free marketing tool! Use it to increase your website SEO as well as your Personal Brand Credibility.

10 Steps to create your blog:

  1. Start with an EYE-CATCHING photograph, graphic or video that compliments your blog and is the width of the blog post if possible. According to Hubspot blogs with images are looked at more often than those without images.
  2. Place blogpost TITLE under your photo or graphic. Title should be in bold caps and include a keyword or key phrase. Keyword(s) in the help create strong SEO (search engine optimization). This will show up in the URL (uniform resource locator; a standardized address of a location on the internet).
  3. Teaser or INTRIGUE factor in bold. This gives more info about your topic, and enhances the title. The goal is to make reader want to read more.
  4. Copy should be ONE topic; visually clean and easy to read.
  5. Use KEYWORDS and phrases throughout the blog to increase SEO. A keyword or phrase is used to match with the query a person enters into a search engine to find specific information.
  6. Keep it SHORT. 1-3 sentences per paragraph and 300-400 words total is the general rule. Value is more important than word count. Longer blogs could be made into and e-book, but that is another topic.
  7. Add helpful LINKS to other blogs of yours or other trusted people that directly relate to your topic and can give your reader more value.
  8. Create a CTA (call to action) that inspires people to contact you. Tell them what you want them to do! Check out these CTA Tips!
  9. Your SIGNATURE and the best way to contact you. Make it easy to get in touch.
  10. Encourage readers to SHARE your blog, but to give you credit if they share partial information. This could be your CTA.

A SIMPLE KEY TO SUCCESS http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2017/9/a-simple-key-to-success

A SIMPLE KEY TO SUCCESS

It takes less than 6 seconds to form an opinion about you based on what people see when they find you online!

Those few seconds of judgment should scare you!

Instead of being scared, hire the right people to help you create a Personal Brand that showcases your best self in an attractive package. Consciously creating your Personal Brand is the Key to successfully attracting the Right people to you.

People want to know, like, and trust you before they will hire you, work with you, or even go on a date with you!

My 20 plus years of expertise working in the commercial photography world kept me on top of every factor of the shoot from lighting people and the environment, to the details of clothing, makeup, hair, and managing the visual clutter that was often present in an environment. The commercial photographers I worked with demanded that I oversee and manage the shoot so they could focus on photography. They expected me to make the clients comfortable so they would feel confident and express that in the photographs as well. I learned how to do all of that and make the photo shoot fun too!

The past 3 years I immersed myself in personal branding. I read books and articles to learn how to create a personal brand that I could use as an effective tool to sell myself and my photography services. I wanted people to know that I wasn't just another photographer and that I created pictures that were more than mere snapshots. They also had to know that working with me is FUN!

A Simple Key to Success - Your Personal Brand!

Photographers are a dime a dozen and Personal Branding gave me the tools to express how different I was from other photographers. Getting what is in my head out in messaging and visuals (my Personal Brand) is the key to my success as a photographer today. My Personal Brand helps me attract more customers! As I grow and develop professionally my Personal Brand evolves to keep up with me.

My passion for Personal Branding attracted the attention of Lori Highby, owner of Keystone Click, a digital marketing agency. Lori was in the process of creating her Personal Brand and hired me to do photography for her personal site Lori Highby her podcasting site Social Capital and her business site Keystone Click.

Min Latus was also working with Lori on creating her brand elements for her new websites. Min helped Lori with color and font choices and had shared Lori's overall vision for the projects. The combination of Lori’s expertise in digital marketing and SEO, Min’s vision, and my photography set the stage for the three of us to begin the creation of Personal Branding Simplified Workshop. We knew we could use our expertise to help others create their Personal Brand to successfully communicating their differentiation and become recognized in their field.

Where to begin creating your Personal Brand?
  1. The first step in creating an authentic online image and Personal Brand is to hire a photographer who understands what makes an effective headshot, knows how to make you look your best, and helps you to express your personality in pictures.
  2. Next hire practicing experts to help you choose your colors, fonts, and messaging. These experts will wrap-up your personality and value in a visually appealing package that will create a powerhouse of attraction for you and your business or career.
  3. Hire a digital marketing expert to help get your Personal Brand Visible to the public through your website, blog, content marketing and more.

We want you to be Recognized!

Lori and I continually experience the benefits of our Personal Brand and we want you to experience our success and become known in your field of expertise. We can provide the tools and guidance to help you be seen, recognized, and attract the Right people too! You deserve it!

DON'T MAKE THESE 4 BUSINESS HEADSHOT MISTAKES! http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/10/dont-make-these-4-business-headshot-mistakes

DON’T MAKE THESE 4 BUSINESS HEADSHOT MISTAKES!

In less than a second you are judged by your appearance!

Chances are high that a person will research you by doing a Google search before they meet you for business or for a job interview. The first thing they will see is your picture. That is their first impression of you, good or bad! Don’t let that scare you! There are 4 mistakes that you can avoid.

Mistake #1.  You or your friend took your photograph. Is your picture in focus? Does the picture show you in your best light? Do you look professional? Do the colors and environment fit your brand?

Mistake # 2.  You don’t have a headshot. Is that your real name? Are you for real? Is that what you do? Do you really want people asking these questions about you?

Mistake #3.  Your headshot is inappropriate. Are you a professional? Are you wearing a shirt? What do you really do? Why is that dog in the picture? Whose hand is that on your shoulder?

Mistake # 4.  Your headshot is outdated. Is that your current hairstyle? Are you 30 pounds heavier? Are you still 25? Is your business up to date?

These are questions that you don’t want people thinking when they see your headshot. Give people a reason to want to know, like, trust, and do business with you. Show viewers a professional headshot that expresses your personality and all of your awesomeness! You can look amazing if you hire the right photographer to capture your brand!

REMEMBER: Like it or not, you are judged in seconds! Your first impression is a lasting impression, make it a positive one!

CAPTIVATE WITH COLOR IN YOUR BUSINESS HEADSHOT http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/8/captivate-with-color-in-your-business-headshot

CAPTIVATE WITH COLOR IN YOUR BUSINESS HEADSHOT

Make sure YOU Stand-Out within Your Brand Design!

You are your Brand, so don’t let your Brand colors and design take away from your professional business headshot, but rather that you compliment each other and Shine Brightly together in your marketplace, creating a Powerhouse of Attraction!

Your headshot should be used on all your social media pages, website, marketing materials and business card. Therefore your headshot should compliment your Brand color scheme and be expressive of your Brand just as much as every other Brand Element is!

It may not be appropriate or complimentary for you to wear your Brand colors. But it can work if the colors look good on you and integrate well with your personality.

Make yourself stand out in within your Brand Design by wearing one of your Brand Colors, a complimentary color, a neutral, or you could wear black or white. You could also use a black and white photograph of yourself instead of color, which could be a good contrast depending upon the rest of your Brand color scheme.

How the background of your professional business headshot integrates into your Brand colors needs to be considered as well. There are many colors to choose from and black, grey, or white backgrounds are options to keep in mind when choosing. Your business headshot may be taken in an environment that expresses you and your Brand colors should be taken into consideration there too!

Steps to a Captivating Branded Business Headshot using color:

  1. Take the time to look Amazing.
  2. Hire the right Branding Photographer.
  3. Choose colors that work with your Brand.
  4. Choose colors and look great on you too.
  5. Carefully choose your background or environment.

All of the above together will help you Attract your Target Market.

I advise you to seek help from an Art Director, Color Specialist, or Photograher, who specializes in Branding.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLORS FOR YOUR BRAND http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/7/choose-the-right-colors-for-your-brand

CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLORS FOR YOUR BRAND

COLORS EVOKE FEELINGS & CONVEY INFORMATION

Make certain you are sending the right message!

PRIMARY COLORS

Red is often used on caution and warning signs, like your bank account is in the red! It is powerful, active and exciting and sexy. It is the most noticeable colors and works well as an accent color. I use it in my blogs to attract attention.

Blue is ambitious, calming, cool, and trustful and beautiful in almost any shade.

Yellow is the brightest color and is fun, happy and sunny. It is full of energy. In it’s darker forms it is not as pleasant and almost dirty looking.

SECONDARY COLORS

Green is natural and healthy, symbolizes prosperity and growth, and is relaxing and even healing. Green is used often for natural or safe products and service. Dark green is often associated with money or the military.

ORANGE is warm and tropical, fun and optimistic. It is also associated with sun and fire and is a playful color.

PURPLE is associated with royalty, it is magical and luxurious, creative and original.

NON-COLORS:

Black can be dark or depressing, yet classy and elegant. Combined with colors it can help other colors stand out and add contrast.

White is pure, fresh, light and positive. It’s clean, peaceful, snowy. It works well for negative space in a design.

Captivate your audience with Brand colors that "WOW"

1. Choose colors that are appropriate and effective in re-enforcing your Brand feel and message.

2. Start with a list of words that fit your Brand and see what words may work with the colors listed. Of course there are many shades of each color, so this is just a starting point.

3. When combining colors they should work in-sync together to create the “WOW” that you want your Brand to have to help Captivate your audience and make you Memorable.

4. Remember to use the colors consistently everywhere your Brand lives.

Click here for more information on WHY COLOR MATTERS for your Brand and Marketing.

I recommend consulting with a graphic designer or web developer that specializes in color to help you choose the right colors for your business BRAND.

In my next blog I’ll talk about the use of color in your business headshot.

WHY DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND MATTERS http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/6/why-developing-your-personal-brand-matters

Michael Neumeyer & Marimba Michael Neumeyer

WHY DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND MATTERS

Are you just like everybody else?

People want to work with People! Why do I want to work with you? There are thousands of people that do what you do! What makes you special in your business? How do you do what you do that makes you unique? What is going to draw me to use your services over someone else’s?

Are you just like everybody else? Of course you aren’t!

You have got to Differentiate yourself!

A traditional headshot is not enough anymore. In order to compete in the crowded marketplace and be remembered you need to Stand-out to be noticed.

When you realize your Awesomeness, you can then begin to Express yourself in your Brand! When you Express Your Brand Visually, you tell people who you are and what you do in your own unique way. This is what differentiates you and makes you Memorable. When you become Memorable to your target market, they will think of you first when they need your service or product.

Differentiating yourself and creating your Brand is so exciting! It used to be that big business’s with a big budget would hire an Advertising Agency to Brand them. Now with the Internet, any modern business can and should be capable of Branding themselves, with some help, but without a big budget. It’s a matter of making yourself Memorable and then putting yourself out there to be seen!

REMEMBER: There are thousands of people that do what you do.

People buy from People. They want to know who you are!

You have got to differentiate yourself!

Stay tuned for upcoming blogs on Developing your Brand and Differentiating yourself!

LOL! LOOK AT THAT LINKEDIN HEADSHOT! http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/6/lol-look-at-that-linkedin-headshot

      20 year old headshot

   Updated Business Headshot

LOL!  LOOK AT THAT LINKEDIN HEADSHOT!

Is that you?

Not Funny, but I find myself laughing when I look at some of the headshots on LinkedIn. Why? Because some people look nothing like the person I know. I have a friend, I’m sure you do too, that used a photograph that was at least 20 years old. I know this friend well enough to say something, so I did.

“Paul, your LinkedIn picture looks outdated, it doesn’t look like you, it doesn’t represent you, or give a good impression of you. I think you need an updated Business Headshot to boost your Credibility and show how Awesome you are.” He replied that he had had new pictures taken, but never liked any of them enough to add to his LinkedIn profile. We discussed the importance of Credibility and how he needed to be photographed the way he looks now, adding his Personality into the photographs, so customers would immediately recognize him as the Paul they know, like and trust.

People get confused when they see you on LinkedIn, then meet you in person and see a completely different person. Not only did Paul’s photograph not look like him, it sent a message that he didn’t care enough to update his photograph. Maybe Paul is not credible and doesn’t stay updated and current in his business as well.  Not a good message to send to potential customers. And I knew this wasn't true for Paul!

Paul needed to hear me say this. The conversation stuck with him and within a week I had him in the studio for a new headshot. In his case, he really wanted a traditional portrait that his customers could relate to. They would see the real Paul, the Paul they know, like and trust, not that other guy that didn’t look like him. His new portrait show’s his Credibility and Personality, part of what really makes Paul the Awesome Relationship-oriented person he is. This alone, will drive more people to look at his LinkedIn profile and want to know more about him and what he does.

Remember: A great Business Headshot is the first step in creating your Brand of Awesomeness that will Attract customers to you!

Don’t be one of those people who get’s laughed at!

BUSINESS PORTRAITS ARE AN INVESTMENT

You are the Face of your Business Brand. Invest in your Brand!

I often receive calls from people that go something like this. “I got your name from Tom Jones.  How much do you charge for a headshot?” I can’t answer that question, so I answer their question with a bunch of questions. I know, some people despise that. But, I need to know more in order to be capable of understanding and providing what the customer really needs.

I ask questions like these: Where will the headshot be used? What business are you in? Do you have a website? Do you use social media? Do you have other marketing materials this headshot would be used in? Do you have a need for other photographs?

When people start to answer the questions, the ideas start to flow. Soon we both have ideas and we come to some logical conclusion of what is to be done. Once we know what it is that we are doing and where we are doing it, I can give a quote for the headshot.

Business portraits are an investment in your business. Take the time to think about where you’ll use your headshot, what your values are, and what you want your Brand to say. Your picture should express who you are (your values) and what you do in your own unique way. A beautifully expressed Branded headshot will help you to stand out I the marketplace and draw your target market to you.

Remember: You are the Face of your Business Brand.

What are you waiting for?

Invest in your Brand - Stand-out and be Memorable to your Target Market!

BECOME A POWERHOUSE OF ATTRACTION http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/6/become-a-powerhouse-of-attraction

BECOME A POWERHOUSE OF ATTRACTION

Shine in the Virtual World, Attract Customers, and Increase Profitability.

Once you’ve discovered your Brand Elements, it’s time to let people know you exist. There are so many ways to do this, that it can seem overwhelming.

Begin creating your Powerhouse of Attraction with these three simple steps!

1. LinkedIn is the first choice for many professionals because it is the largest professional networking website. Update your Personal Photo. Now use your Story and unique skill-set to write your profile. A few good Milwaukee area resources for LinkedIn training are Wayne Breitbarth and Sue Gresham. I’ve met and worked with all three.

2. Facebook and/or other Favorite Social Media sites. Update your Personal Photo. Add a banner picture that expresses your Brand. Read here on how to use Facebook for business.

3. Your Website. If you don’t have one, get one! It is your personal piece of real estate that you can control and turn into a Powerhouse of Attraction for your brand. Start with a freebie for now if that is what you can afford. Get a free site at brandedme.com or wix.com. Use your name. When someone searches for your name, having your personal website pop up first is the best way for them to get the most relevant information about you. If your name is common, differentiate yourself by adding a middle name or nickname to it so that people know it’s you. You can even be “The Tom Smith” or something like that. Read here for information on how to create a website that Attracts.

Post information that your target market needs and is looking for. If you don’t have your own content, don’t worry, post *other people’s content for now. As you start to blog and create content you can add that. Be consistent and keep posting at least one time per day on each social media site. You’ll be surprised how many people will take notice! Look here for how to use Social Media for Business.

DON’T BE OVERWHELMED BY THE IDEA OF POSTING DAILY!

If you’re really into your business, you should be reading daily. Save the articles so you are ready to post them anytime. I post on FB first because the business pages make it so easy to schedule posts. I’ll post up to a month at a time. Each day I post the previous days FB post on LI. It’s simple and only takes a few minutes each day. There are other tools like Hoot Suite and Buffer that you can use to schedule posts.

This is a great start! Post daily on Social Media. Keep your name and picture consistent on each format. Post what your market wants and needs to hear and see. And always ask yourself before you post, “Will my target market value or appreciate this post?” If not, don’t post it!

WOW! WITH YOUR UNIQE PERSONAL BRAND

A STRONG FIRST IMPRESSION COMPELS YOUR VIEWER TO TAKE ACTION

Your Photographs, Colors, Logo, Typography, Web Design, and Message work together to create your Personal Brand.

Above is a great example of a Personal Branded website. I love the use of red, black and lime throughout. Liysa wears red and black and works herself into the whole design of her website too. The bright lime is a great accent color and helps to emphasis headlines on her site. The red is thrown in very purposefully for emphasis and accent as well.

The typestyle is fun, which goes well with Liysa’s personality and how she teaches people to communicate, listen, and be heard.

*The photographs of Liysa were not done by me. But I think they Rock!

Liysa also has a nice graphic logo using the red and black. She then works her logo into her event marketing piece too! Beautiful and Captivating!

Using the combination of all of the Elements of Personal Branding Liysa has created a Personal Brand that expresses who she is and what she does, Captivating her Viewer and Compeling them to take action!

Liysa’s Personal Brand of WOW creates a Strong First Impression!

ATTRACT WITH YOUR PERSONAL BRAND OF AWESOMENESS http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/5/attract-with-your-personal-brand-of-awesomeness

ATTRACT WITH YOUR PERSONAL BRAND OF AWESOMENESS

Your Image is your First Impression, Make it Awesome!

Once you have your Story, you have the main element that makes up your Personal Brand.  But the first thing people will see is the image of you!  Whether in person or on the web, people seek out who it is they are considering working with. This first impression is the most important element of your Personal Brand. Why? If you want to Captivate your viewer and make them want to know you better, your First Impression Better be a Great One!

On Social Media, if you don’t have a photograph of yourself people either think you don’t exist or you don’t care. Poor lighting, out of focus, eyes that are barely visible, or you half naked at the beach are good examples of a damaging First Impression. People do remember negative images too.

Wouldn’t you rather Stand Out in your Brand of Awesomeness with a Great First Impression that would Attract people to you and make them want to know more?

How do you create this Awesome Image of yourself?

  • Hire a professional photographer that specializes in Personal Branding.
  • Look at their portfolio to see if you like their work.
  • Meet with the Photographer and make sure you feel comfortable with him or her.

In the photograph above of Zak Mazur, a copywriter, we used a library as our location. When composing and lighting we wanted to emphasis the red books surrounding Zak and the red pen to draw attention to the paper he is about to write on. He dressed in his style and wore colors that wouldn’t compete with the red. The lines in the photograph as well as colors worked to draw attention not only to Zak, but what he does too! Since Zak and I had met before and took the time to get to know one another, we had established a comfort level that allowed Zak to relax during his shoot. Because Zak was relaxed his personality shines through creating his Personal Brand Image. He looks warm, smart and inviting, adding to his Awesomeness and Attracting the viewer to want to know more!

CAPTIVATE WITH BRAND COLOR http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/5/captivate-with-brand-color

CAPTIVATE WITH BRAND COLOR

COLOR INCREASES BRAND RECOGNITION BY UP TO 80%

Source - University of Loyola, Maryland study.

I always get POSITIVE comments on my business card, my logo, my choice of color, and my photograph. My business card is recognizably “me” everywhere I go. I must admit, I choose yellow because it resonated with me and just felt right. Photography is about capturing the right light and yellow reminds me of sunshine or light. Yellow is exciting and warm, which absolutely works with my personality as well.

What does your Brand “look” like?

Color will evoke emotions, feelings and associations. It is important to choose colors that evoke a feeling that goes along with your Brand Voice!

Research shows that 62-90% of your viewers assessment of you is based on color alone!

Yikes, that could be good or bad!

Source - CCICOLOR-Institute for Color Research.

Below are just a few words that describe what color can mean, and a few examples of businesses who use that color. Colors have positive and negative connotations, so it is important to match your business to a color that is suitable and complimentary. A bank would not have a red logo, because in terms of money that means negative.

RED: ACTIVE, EXCITING, BOLD, POWERFUL, Kellogs, Lego, Coco-Cola

PINK: FEMININE, SENSITIVE, RESPECT, Barbie, Cosmopolitan, Victoria's Secret

PURPLE: CREATIVE, ORIGINAL, FANTASY, Yahoo, Hallmark, Cadbury

NAVY: LOYAL, PEACE, SINCERE, Facebook, Reebok, Gap

GREEN: ENVIRONMENT, PROSPERITY, BALANCE, BP, tic tac, Holiday Inn

BLUE: AMBITION, SPIRIT, GOALS, Blu-ray, Twitter, Wordpress

ORANGE: WARM, OPTIMISM, FREEDOM, Master Card, Bitly, Fanta

YOU can’t STAND OUT if you’re trying to BLEND in.

Use this as a starting point to choose color. Discuss color with a knowledgeable graphic or web designer before you make decisions. Use color, design and all the Brand Elements together, consistently, to Captivate your Audience, Attract your Perfect Customers and Increase Profitability!

YOUR BRAND STORY IS A VOICE THAT CAPTIVATES http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/5/your-brand-story-is-a-voice-that-captivates

YOUR BRAND STORY IS A VOICE THAT CAPTIVATES

VOICE IS HOW YOUR BRAND SPEAKS, ACTS AND ENGAGES

Your vision is a combination of your beliefs and your philosophy. Your personality is uniquely yours. You do business differently than anyone else. You have a story to tell about who you are and why you do what you do.

This Story is your Brand’s Voice.

Get started creating your Brand’s Voice.

  1. What motivates, inspires, and gives you the passion for what you do?
  2. What makes your product or service different from others who do what you do?
  3. What will your customer gain from working with you?
  4. What emotions do you invoke in your customer?
  5. Ask a few customers you trust, to tell you what they think is unique about you and their experience with you.
  6. What led you to do what you do?

Your answers are your Story!

Fine-tune the pieces of your Story, they are your Brand Voice. Create your tagline, blog, video, photography, social media posts, website content, etc. using your Brand Voice. Enrich the lives of other’s with your knowledge and you will Captivate and Attract the right customers to you. These are the people who “get you” and will buy your products or services.

In my next blog I will go over more Brand Elements and help you utilize them to attract your perfect customers and increase profitability too!

THE BENEFITS OF CREATING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND http://www.stacykaat.com/blog/2016/4/2-the-benefits-of-creating-your-personal-brand

THE BENEFITS OF CREATING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND

IN LESS THAN 1 SECOND YOUR BRAND COULD BE DEAD!

According to Hubspot an image is processed in 1/10 of a second!  If your image doesn’t captivate your audience the chances are good that you won’t have an audience and your Brand is Dead!

If I googled your name today what would I find? Would I find your website? Your Facebook page? Would your photograph reflect who you are? Would I be intrigued enough to read your bio and look at the rest of your website? Will I see the same person everywhere I looked? Does your personality, vision and message shine through? Would your business card give me some good clues as to who you are? Would it make me want to look at your website?

When answering these questions you should begin to see why creating and maintaining your Personal Brand is very important. Think of your Personal Brand as your own little chunk of Real Estate! You control what you want people to see and know about you. This is especially true if you have your own website - more on that in another blog!

People want to do business with people they like, know, and trust.
